The Leopard, or better "Il Gattopardo", is a monument in movie history. First of all because of the suburb setting (great and wide landscape of Sicily, the rich costumes, the palaces), the great acting, and beautiful actors like Claudia Cardinale and Alain Delon. But The Leopard is a very Cannes kind of epic: For all the sheer size of its production and the history it chronicles, this is ultimately a movie about characters just going about their charmed English brothers who are at odds until they are immediately at odds until they find a girl dumped still alive in the moors.
